Built in classical style in 1722-1727 by William Etty, the church benefitted from a large donation by Lady Betty Hastings to its building fund.
The three stage diminishing square tower is 180 foot high.
Giant Doric pilasters, made of millstone grit, support a triglyph frieze.
Inside there are giant Corinthian columns.
