There is a Blue Plaque at this location recognising Alison Uttley who lived at the Old Vicarage in 1910.
The plaque reads:
“The Old Vicarage. This house was donated by will in 1718 to be used as a vicarage. Around 1910 Alison Uttley countrywoman and childrens’ writer lived here.”
Alison Uttley, née Alice Jane Taylor (17 December 1884 – 7 May 1976) was a British writer of over 100 books.
She is now best known for her children’s series about Little Grey Rabbit, and Sam Pig.
There is Blue Plaque recognising Alison at Downs House, 13, Higher Downs, Bowdon, Altrincham (WA14 2QL) where she lived from 1924 to 1938.
