Great Crested Grebe
{Podiceps cristatus}
The graceful great crested grebe is a familiar sight on our lakes and reservoirs.
Quite a few years ago, the wooded meres of Cheshire were the only place they were left in the UK.
Thankfully they’ve recovered and are found all over.
FACT…
They do a wonderful dance during the breeding season as they form a strong pair-bond.
HABITAT…
Lakes, meres and reservoirs.
