Olive Morris (1952-1979) was as a activist and community leader.
Olive was first affected by racism as a teenager when she experienced police harassment.
She became involved in organising black and community groups in Brixton including the Organization of Women of African and Asian Descent.
In 1975 Olive began studying in Manchester and at the same time was active in campaigning in Moss Side.
She was especially concerned with better education for black children.
Olive joined the Black Panther Party which inspired a visit to China in 1978.
In the same year Olive returned to Brixton, having completed her studies.
She resumed her work with black, community and black women’s groups.
Tragically, Olive died of cancer aged only 26
